That seems to be the assumption - though it means the Magician just wasted their power.
exfired: (pst. hey roxas. hey. can u hear me)

I wouldn't call it wasting. I mean, it's casting doubts, innit? Kaito's entire defense right now seems to runs on Leorio having been the detective.
zerotodoro: (eeeeh?)

And if that's true - then who is sending the message?

I-I don't think it is true... there's no reason to think the detective didn't send the message, is there? I-I mean it's even written the same way as the last message...

The speech pattern's way too obvious, though. Even I could have written it. Not that I think anyone's trolling just to throw us off. But it's possible.

If Leorio'd been the detective? [he sounds skeptical, but rolls with it] Alright, let's say he was the detective. That message yesterday still had to have been from him, right? Otherwise he'd have sent another anonymous message telling us to not listen to the one that wasn't from him. So even in that pretty unlikely scenario, we've got a 50/50 chance of hitting a spy, an' we don't got another option right now, do we?
candyrocks: wirt. (if you can't see 'em)

What do you think we should do?
exfired: (tfw you fuck up kidnapping children)

[personal profile] exfired 2015-02-06 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Weeeell, I don't see anyone else comin' up with a potential spy, an' we voted ourselves in a corner yesterday. I say we go for it.
fullonbraced: (It's all about the art maaaan!)

[personal profile] fullonbraced 2015-02-06 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
right! There's a fifty-fifty chance it's a spy! It's either him or Kanade from what I'm thinking!
exfired: (oh baby when you talk like that)

[personal profile] exfired 2015-02-06 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
If we're going with that theory, yeah, an' nearly everyone seems to agree at this point at least yesterday's message was legit. So, what the heck, right? Might as well live dangerously.
candyrocks: (oh the old north wind)

[personal profile] candyrocks 2015-02-06 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, okay! Let get 'im.

It's not a waste, though! 'cause now we can't know for sure...

Before we knew if the detective left a message, if it wasn't the detective, the real detective would say so. So it had to be real. But now we can't be sure.

You're right. You would think the real detective might say something...
