DAY 0 - Morning

[Good morning, contestants!

One moment, you were receiving a mysterious envelope marked "Greetings from Islandia". The next moment, you're waking up on a beach.

Twenty-four people are scattered across the sands of a beautiful tropical beach, all somewhere in the middle of waking up. To your right, a sunrise over a gentle sea. To your left, dense, vibrant jungle.

There are two signs of civilization here! One is a shipwreck, about half of a good-sized ship emerging morosely from the waves. The other is a wooden sign at the edge of the jungle, showing simply an arrow pointing deeper into the island. Looking a bit closer, there is a narrow but well-maintained path into the jungle.

"Where" is a pretty good question that most of us probably don't have an answer to.

I've got a few educated cases on "what" it is, though.

[contrary to his earlier jovial, joking exterior, this question is phrased in a more serious tone]

Yeah, I did. I tried to open it, and next thing I knew, I was here...

Using that envelope as a starting point, I'd say this place is called "Islandia." Pretty apt name, I guess.

[wildrhythm]

Not a bad name!

It's appropriate, but it doesn't tell us much about this place. I wonder what kinda island it is?

[a beat]

Other than deserted.

[wildrhythm]

The tropical kind? I mean, at least the weather's nice.

[carptricks]

[in a deadpan]

That much is obvious, too.

. . . but I suppose you're right about that. It could be raining, so I guess we'd better appreciate what Lady Luck gave us for now.
