DAY 0 - Morning

[Good morning, contestants!

One moment, you were receiving a mysterious envelope marked "Greetings from Islandia". The next moment, you're waking up on a beach.

Twenty-four people are scattered across the sands of a beautiful tropical beach, all somewhere in the middle of waking up. To your right, a sunrise over a gentle sea. To your left, dense, vibrant jungle.

There are two signs of civilization here! One is a shipwreck, about half of a good-sized ship emerging morosely from the waves. The other is a wooden sign at the edge of the jungle, showing simply an arrow pointing deeper into the island. Looking a bit closer, there is a narrow but well-maintained path into the jungle.

[ A young lady is also stirring on the sand, looking as confused as everyone else. Heaving herself onto her feet, she brushes the sand off of her skirt and-- ]

Oh! What a gorgeous beach. [ she surveys it for a moment before snapping back into her senses ] N-No, now's not the time for that...

[ if she sees anyone walk past her who doesn't look particularly angry, she'll ask: ]

Um, excuse me. Do you happen to know what this place is?

[teethteethteeth]

Nope!

[She pauses a little.]

Young lady, I'm guessing you're in the same circumstances as me? Simply woke up out of nowhere?

[respring]

Yes, that's right. Were you reading a strange envelope, by any chance?

[teethteethteeth]

That's right! I didn't get much of a chance to see what's inside, though.

[punchestumors]

Me?

[He doesn't look particularly angry, but he's still kind of grouchy. Not enough to take it out on her though.]

Hardly. I remember getting some kind of envelope - that's about it.

[respring]

Oh! It seems quite a few of us received envelopes, then. Um...I guess that's the connection we're looking for.

Do you remember what was inside?

[punchestumors]

Actually... I don't. I just remember it said "Greetings from Islandia."

That's a good question... I wonder if anyone else remembers? Do you?

[Well..this at least gets Alice to stop searching for a way out for now.]

No..No I don't. Hoefully there will be a way to find out soon enough.

[Even though she is wrong about what and why this is happening.]

It doesn't seem terribly hostile, at least.
