DAY 0 - Morning

[Good morning, contestants!

One moment, you were receiving a mysterious envelope marked "Greetings from Islandia". The next moment, you're waking up on a beach.

Twenty-four people are scattered across the sands of a beautiful tropical beach, all somewhere in the middle of waking up. To your right, a sunrise over a gentle sea. To your left, dense, vibrant jungle.

There are two signs of civilization here! One is a shipwreck, about half of a good-sized ship emerging morosely from the waves. The other is a wooden sign at the edge of the jungle, showing simply an arrow pointing deeper into the island. Looking a bit closer, there is a narrow but well-maintained path into the jungle.

[The girl in the labcoat and the pink-lensed glasses has pushed herself up to a sitting position is currently pinching a small measure of sand and watching as the grains fall from her fingers.]

Hmm. Real sand. Real ocean too. That settles it! Scientifically speaking, we're at a beach!

[The girl writes something down in her pocket notebook and then pushes herself up to her feet. That shipwreck over there is really intriguing and definitely needs some scientific investigation.]

[Iori tilts her head rather curiously, blinking several times at the younger girl.]

I don't know! But now we've proved it with science!

[.... She wants to say something to retort against that, but she has a feeling that's probably not a good idea.]

I guess so! My name's Nagase Iori, by the way. What's yours?

Ema Skye! Pleased to meet you, Nagase! Or is it Iori?

Nagase's my last name, Iori's my first. I'm Japanese, so I introduce myself the opposite way a Westerner does.

Wow, science really can prove anything! Hahahahahaha! Any idea where we are?

Not yet! But I'm going to figure it out with science!

Oh, you're a scientist? Do you know if I can put sunscreen on a frog?

Nope! Which means we should experiment! I see you've got the frog, do you have sunscreen too?

I don't think so...but I also don't think we should do evil experiments on Cornelius.

Nope, no blood here. (But maybe she shouldn't spray the whole beach. She may need this later.)]

Is there any way of speaking that would NOT say we're on the beach?

But is there a scientific explanation for how we got here in the first place? Or...any explanation? [Because he wouldn't be surprised if this was more magic.]

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Maybe it's something to do with wormholes. Hm...
