DAY 0 - Morning

[Good morning, contestants!

One moment, you were receiving a mysterious envelope marked "Greetings from Islandia". The next moment, you're waking up on a beach.

Twenty-four people are scattered across the sands of a beautiful tropical beach, all somewhere in the middle of waking up. To your right, a sunrise over a gentle sea. To your left, dense, vibrant jungle.

There are two signs of civilization here! One is a shipwreck, about half of a good-sized ship emerging morosely from the waves. The other is a wooden sign at the edge of the jungle, showing simply an arrow pointing deeper into the island. Looking a bit closer, there is a narrow but well-maintained path into the jungle.

What do kidnappers even look like, anyway? If someone like that is on this beach, we should find them and make them send everyone back home.

Hibiki, a shapeshifter would imply you wouldn't KNOW what they'd look like but...

[She shoots a glare at the guy.] I could say the same for you, really.

You could, but if I wanted to maintain my cover I certainly wouldn't bring up the idea. A shapeshifter wouldn't want people thinking about shapeshifters, obviously.

Unless you brought up shapeshifting so that we wouldn't expect you of being someone who would bring up shapeshifting!

[Hibiki is mostly confusing herself at this point, but she is pretty done with shapeshifters these days.]

But if I thought of bringing up shapeshifting as a bluff to make you think I wasn't a shapeshifter, there's no way I wouldn't also think that bringing up shapeshifting to make you think I'm not a shapeshifter would just make you think I'm a shapeshifter even more!

Anyway, we probably just need to find the most evil person here and defeat them, right?

How exactly do you intend to determine who the most evil person here is?

[Sigh.]

Hibiki, you of all people should know it's not that simple.

Yeah, I guess so. It's not like someone is just going to show up and say "surprise, I'm the mastermind" right away.

That would be pretty bad planning on their part, yup.

Now if it were ME, I would plant an agent among the victims who could watch them and report to me on what they were doing. Then I would hang out somewhere with air conditioning and let the reports come in. Has the advantage of being able to limit how much information gets out if my agent gets discovered AND letting me live in comfort instead of being stuck in the wilderness.

[Kanade crosses her arms, eyeing him.] I guess that does make sense, but you sound like you know an awful lot about being an evil overlord.
