DAY 0 - Morning

[Good morning, contestants!

One moment, you were receiving a mysterious envelope marked "Greetings from Islandia". The next moment, you're waking up on a beach.

Twenty-four people are scattered across the sands of a beautiful tropical beach, all somewhere in the middle of waking up. To your right, a sunrise over a gentle sea. To your left, dense, vibrant jungle.

There are two signs of civilization here! One is a shipwreck, about half of a good-sized ship emerging morosely from the waves. The other is a wooden sign at the edge of the jungle, showing simply an arrow pointing deeper into the island. Looking a bit closer, there is a narrow but well-maintained path into the jungle.

[years of extremely boring recon has taught him to look at the most obvious not creepy thing first (and then the creepy thing second), so Axel is standing next to the wrecked ship. he gives it an experimental knock before addressing the... general... public. or he might be talking to himself, it's hard to tell.]

Y'know, I might not be any kinda expert on boats, but I'm pretty sure they're not usually made to be toys.

Yeah, just a little. Not the weirdest thing about this place, but... [shrugs] Why fake a shipwreck if some of us weren't gonna be on a ship before being here in the first place? Inquiring minds an' all that.

Why, it's for the atmosphere! Which means this's quite an artificial thing, I guess. Oh, yeah, did you get an envelope too?

Atmosphere's always an important part, fair enough. Aaand yep! I'm guessin' that's how they got the lot of us.

I've never heard of letters that capture you and take you somewhere else! But I suppose there're always techniques you haven't heard of.

The tricky bit is how they managed to make it so I can't quite reach my true self.

Huh? It's fake? ... Maybe a set piece from a movie. Do you think that's important?

[He's not particularly impressed by the plastic ship... but it is kind of weird.]

[he shrugs because. eh. it's a boat.] Might be, might not be. It's suspicious, but... nothing going until we check out the rest of the island, right? If there's more than one plastic thing, your whole movie set idea could have some merit!

[Even if it wasn't plastic, the boat was still a shipwreck. Leorio would have only cared if it had pirate treasure.]

Yeah, that's right. Then that's what we gotta do!

That sure got you fired up. That interested in solving the mystery, or...?

[No, he's just simple minded and excitable.]

Yeah? Well, not that I care what the rest of you do, but I'm pretty invested in finding out why the hell I ended up with a ton of strangers on an island. I was heading into the city last I checked.

Anyway, if it IS a movie set, then that means civilization.

Hey, I'm looking around, aren't I? Trust me, I got more than one issue being stuck any place against my will. [it's said good-naturedly though, and he stretches as he looks around] Let's just say somethin' tells me movie set's pretty low on the probability list.

What kind of wood is it made of? [That knock did not sound like regular wood. Hans places a hand on it.]

[hello possible future kingdom hearts villain has this guy never seen a plastic boat? oh, well.] That's the thing! It isn't.

[Shhhh he's totally the most trustworthy person ever, how can this face be the face of a villain]

Then what's it made of?

[METAL? That doesn't feel like metal.]

Plastic. Ever heard of it?

[axel guesses the answer is a resounding "no" and the guy comes from one of the worlds without it, but hey, he'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt and all that]

[knew it. luckily for hans, explaining things in extremely simple ways to kids...err...people... is something axels very used to]

It's a kind of man-made material that's cheaper to make than wood or metal. Buuut the other side of it is that it's kinda not what you'd wanna make a whole boat out of, if you catch my drift.

[She's still standing on the beach, rather than wading on the water]

A toy boat? What do you mean?

Y'know. Cheap, made of plastic, hollow, not actually a real ship? All that kinda good stuff.

Not quite what I meant. Lemme guess--you've never seen a boat before? Yeah, that's what this looks like. Buuuut that ain't a real boat. Get the toy analogy yet?

Yes, I 'get' it. Someone went through the trouble of creating a ridiculous toy version.
